Intrawest refinances debt and completes new loan

— Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp. parent company Intrawest announced Tuesday that it "has successfully completed the refinancing of its corporate debt, which was due in December 2009," according to a news release.

"The company repaid its prior lenders in full and has completed a new loan, which is scheduled to mature in 2014. Terms of the new loan were not disclosed," the release stated.

Intrawest operates Winter Park ski area for Denver. The Vancouver, British Columbia-based company also owns Whistler Blackcomb in British Columbia, the site of many 2010 Winter Olympic Games events.

In February, Intrawest sold its interests in Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Florida. The purchaser was identified as the Becnel family of Destin, Fla. The company has sold several other resort holdings this year, including Panaroma Mountain Resort in western British Columbia and The Village at Squaw Valley, Calif.

Intrawest also sold Copper Mountain ski resort to Powdr Corp., of Utah, late last year and sold two of its French resorts.
