High winds close several Steamboat Ski Area lifts
December 10, 2010
Steamboat Springs — The gondola and Storm Peak lifts at Steamboat Ski Area closed because of high winds this afternoon. The Four Points lift is on hold, and the gondola reopened to the public at about 3:45 p.m.
Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp. spokeswoman Loryn Kasten said winds closed the gondola and Storm Peak just after 2:30 p.m. But the resort still is looking forward to this weekend, when a storm system is expected to drop 10 to 15 more inches of snow on Mount Werner.
“The conditions are phenomenal,” Kasten said.
The ski area has received 123 inches of snow so far this season.
