Hayden wrestlers compete in Center

Joel Reichenberger

Tanner Guire and Kent Miller led the Hayden High School wrestling team Saturday at a meet in Center.

Miller, at 132 pounds, charged through the field to third place while Guire finished fourth, losing the consolation finals only on a technicality. He hit his limit of five in the consolation semifinals, going 4-1 through that stretch, and had to flip a coin for third and fourth.

“Tanner wrestled well. He had the best tournament of our guys,” Jones said.

Jones said Judd Magree, at 106 pounds, and Hunter Rummel, at 195, also stood out.

“They wrestled very hard,” he said.

The team wrestles next at 6 p.m. Thursday at home against its Routt County foe, Soroco and Steamboat Springs.
