Hayden volleyball falls in straight sets to Meeker

Luke Graham

With a new coach, the growing pains were evident for the Hayden High School girls volleyball team, losing in straight sets Friday at Meeker, falling 25-21, 25-21 and 25-23.

“It was unforced errors on our part,” first year Tigers coach Holli Palmer said. “A lot of balls hit the net. It comes with learning and putting the ball on the other side of the court more aggressively.”

Palmer sped up the offense and changed the Tigers’ blocking up front. She credited Meeker for its play, but said the problems lies with Hayden. Still, she remained confident the team eventually would get it going.

“The best thing about it is their willingness to learn,” she said. “The need to keep that attitude.”

Hayden next plays at 6:30 p.m. at home against Moffat County on Tuesday.
