Hayden Town Council meeting to focus on improvement projects
April 3, 2013
Steamboat Springs — The Hayden Town Council on Thursday will discuss two improvement projects being planned for the town.
The Town Council will meet from 7 to 7:30 p.m. at Hayden Town Hall for reports from staff members. The regular meeting starts at 7:30 p.m.
According to the agenda, the Town Council will consider accepting a $44,525 Great Outdoors Colorado grant to make improvements to Lake Village Park. The town has budgeted to spend about $60,000 on the park to build a pavilion, install four picnic tables, a barbecue, landscaping and irrigation.
The park was built as part of the failed Lake Village development. The development since has been through bankruptcy proceedings and the current owners are in negotiations to gift the park to the town. The Town Council is expected to review the real estate contract during Thursday’s meeting.
Town officials also have recognized a need to improve the town’s water system by installing a water tank at Yampa Valley Regional Airport.
According to the meeting agenda, Town Manager David Torgler and Public Works Director Sam Barnes will lead a discussion about the project the town hopes to be prepared to build in 2014.
The tank would provide adequate water pressure for fire suppression at the airport, and it would feed water to the town’s second water tank on Hospital Hill. Routt County, which owns and operates Yampa Valley Regional Airport, proposes contributing $1.2 million to the $2.25 million project. The town is looking into options for how it would fund its share of the cost.
