Hayden to swear in new town clerk Thursday

Scott Franz

— Melisa Owens said she looks forward to serving her community after she is sworn in as Hayden’s next town clerk Thursday night.

“It’s a dream come true to have an awesome job like this,” said Owens, who has lived in Hayden for eight years with her husband, Clay. “It’s a good opportunity to learn some new things and give back to our community.”

Melisa Owens will replace former Town Clerk Nathan Archuleta, who resigned last month after serving since September.

“Owens was one of the top candidates when we did the search” last year, Town Manager David Torgler said. “She’s developed skills while working in the private and public sector that I think will allow her to be a great town clerk.”

Owens was working for the Moffat County treasurer’s office in Craig before she landed the job at home in Hayden. Owens and her husband have a 9-month-old son and a 9-year-old daughter. They also are active members of Hayden Congregational Church.
