Hayden to swear in new police chief during Thursday meeting
November 6, 2013
Steamboat Springs — Hayden’s new police chief will be formally sworn in during Thursday’s Hayden Town Council meeting.
The Town Council is scheduled to hold a work session with the Routt County Board of Commissioners from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and the regular meeting will start at 7:30 p.m.
After a community reception and interviews, the Town Council chose Greg Tuliszewski as Hayden’s next police chief. Tuliszewski has 20 years of law enforcement experience and is recently retired from the Lone Tree Police Department where he was commander. Tuliszewski will start working next week.
Along with the swearing in, the town will consider a severance agreement policy that applies to the police chief position. If the chief is eligible to receive a severance, the chief would receive three months’ worth of salary, according to the policy.
Also at Thursday’s meeting, at the request of Town Council member Bill Hayden, the council will review the town’s sales tax license fee. The fee is currently $25. Hayden has proposed lowering it to $5. Lowering the annual fee would cost the town about $3,500 each year.
