Hayden Reader of the Week: Tyler Hockaday

— The Hayden Public Library proudly announces its fifth Reader of the Week, Tyler Hockaday. Tyler, 11, will be going into the sixth grade at Hayden Middle School in the fall. His parents are Stephanie Rickman and Shawn Hockaday. Tyler is the oldest of six brothers and sisters: Emily, 7 months, Matthew, 2, Joseph, 4, Dustin, 6, and Austin, 8.

Tyler’s best friends are Dustin Sullins, Alex Hamilton and Jay Carrico. He likes to ride bikes with them when they hang out. Tyler has lived in Hayden his entire life. He has three dogs, Gizmo, Noah and Myer, and two cats, Tinka and Nips. He also has two 4-H pigs named Ooh and Aah. Tyler wants to be a bull rider when he grows up.

Tyler’s favorite color is camouflage, and his favorite food is shrimp Alfredo. His favorite TV show is “Arrow Affliction,” and he likes to ride his bike in his spare time. His favorite sport is football, and his favorite book is “Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief.” His favorite subject in school is math.



Tyler’s vacation plans for the summer include an overnight trip to Denver where he will visit the zoo and Elitch Gardens with his family. Tyler’s advice for children about reading is, “It’s good for you. You can explore new things. It’s like a whole other world!” Tyler said he was excited about being chosen Reader of the Week. Way to go, Tyler!
