Hayden Reader of the Week: Evanna Mitchell

Evanna Mitchell

Evanna Mitchell, 9, was chosen as Hayden Public Library's Reader of the Week. Her parents are Colton Mitchell and Brenda Whiteside. She has lived in Hayden her entire life. Evanna has two brothers, Trenton, 15 and Patrick, 18, and a sister, Kara, 16. Her friends are Allison, Valeria and Maria.

Her family has three pets: a teacup Chihuahua named Shiloh, a cat named Cotton and a Blue Heeler named Wipe-Out. When she grows up, she wants to be a veterinarian. In her free time, she loves riding her bike. Her favorite colors are orange, black, pink and purple, and her favorite foods are strawberries and raspberries. Evanna's favorite TV show is "Duck Dynasty," and her favorite books are "The Puppy Place" series by Ellen Miles. Her favorite subject in school is math. Evanna said she likes to play basketball and really enjoyed the basketball camp at the school this summer. Evanna joined the crochet and knitting group at the library and taught everyone how to make a bracelet. This summer, her family went to Cheyenne, Wyo., to her cousin's wedding.

When asked if she had any thoughts about reading and books, she replied, "It was a good book."

The library holds the Reader of the Week contest each summer, and the winner is interviewed for the Steamboat Today; wins a T-shirt, a water bottle and a book; and chooses the food for the weekly Bingo and Cooking program.
