Hayden officials to dive into recreational marijuana rules
July 17, 2013
Steamboat Springs — Hayden officials on Thursday night will debate whether to allow the sale of marijuana for recreational use.
Amendment 64 allows local municipalities to decide whether they want to allow businesses to sell the product. Currently, Hayden does not allow the sale of medicinal marijuana, but some town officials have hinted they would entertain the idea of allowing marijuana to be sold for recreational use so they can collect tax revenues.
The Town Council will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Hayden Town Hall for reports from staff members and a work session with officials from Shell Oil. The regular meeting starts at 7:30 p.m.
Also during the meeting, the Town Council will hear a presentation about the town’s audit for 2012. The town received a clean audit.
