Hayden High School to host second Activities Gala
November 9, 2012
Hayden — Last year’s inaugural Hayden School District Activities Gala raised enough money to help purchase new uniforms for the junior varsity basketball team, the wrestling team and the track team. The school also was able to purchase a new camcorder for filming games.
Next on the list? Football uniforms.
The district’s second annual Activities Gala is Nov. 17, and the fundraiser could do more than purchase new football jerseys.
There also are hopes of purchasing the technology and equipment to live broadcast some high school games and activities.
Hayden Superintendent Mike Luppes said the Activities Gala was created to help get the "extras" teams and activities need to be successful.
"It's to help us with the extras for the activities department that the district doesn't have the money for," Luppes said.
The gala features a spaghetti dinner, silent auction and live auction. The event is from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Routt County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall.
The silent auction will take place throughout the dinner and will be followed by the live auction, according to a news release from the district.
Pre-sale tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and younger. Those prices increase to $12 and $6 at the door. Tickets are available from all athletes, coaches and school offices.
Event organizers still are looking for silent and live auction items. Those interested in donating or with questions about the event can contact Luppes or Athletics Director Mark Clarke at 970-276-3864.
