Hayden girls basketball falls in Hotchkiss

— The Hayden High School girls basketball season came to an end Tuesday night in the opening round of the district tournament in Hotchkiss.

The team lost to No. 2-seeded Hotchkiss, 67-28.

The Tigers played well in the first quarter, trailing 9-6. From there, Hotchkiss took control, spurred by a big second-quarter run.

"The kids played well in spurts," coach Michelle Wilkie said.

Kara Cozzens led the Tigers with 10 points, and Olivia Zehner had nine.

Hayden wraps up the season 4-15.
