Geoffrey and Janie Leaver: Valuable utility

Janie and I are a retired couple from Australia who have recently purchased a condominium in Steamboat Springs. With this purchase, we intend to live between our home in Australia and, now, in beautiful Steamboat Springs.
We originally considered purchasing property in other Colorado ski resorts. However, after visiting Steamboat, experiencing the wonderful hospitality of the people here and evaluating the recreational offerings other than skiing, we decided to buy here. Without question, one of the major factors in this decision was your Tennis Center at Steamboat Springs and the wonderful staff who operate the facility. We were surprised to note that the center was recognized as the Facility of the Year by the USTA in 2011, a fact the community would be well served in making more known.
As with most of the city's recreational offerings, we noted that the facility requires an annual capital expenditure and subsidy to maintain. From our perspective, those expenditures are very well justified. Janie and I, having experienced numerous tennis operations, also note that the operators and their staff do a marvelous job, which, in our travels, we find is not always the case. The arrangement that the city has with this private concessionaire is one other communities should emulate.
The purpose of this letter is to acknowledge the role of the Tennis Center in our purchase. In our short time here, we believe the Tennis Center to be a very valuable community utility, which enriches the lives of many. It symbolizes the values that make Steamboat Springs an ideal home for locals and visitors alike. We believe much of this is possible by the passion to provide the very best by Stacy and Jim Swiggart and their staff.
We trust our endorsement of the Tennis Center and the management may add weight to the decision to maintain and improve a first-class asset for all the community to enjoy in years to come.
