— A busy weekend for local high school sports teams quickly is becoming the opposite. As of Friday morning, two teams had their Saturday games canceled in the face of a weekend forecast of bad weather.

The Steamboat Springs High School girls lacrosse team had its 11 a.m. home lacrosse game against Rampart called off. The girls soccer team, meanwhile, won’t be making the trip to Summit for an 11 a.m. game.

A track meet in Grand Junction, boys lacrosse games in Cherry Creek (junior varsity) and Telluride (varsity) and a baseball game in Rifle still are on the schedule.

In lieu of playing the canceled games, the girls soccer team — including the varsity, junior varsity and C teams — will head to Montrose for a scrimmage Saturday, and girls lacrosse now will face Rampart at 2 p.m. March 29 in Steamboat.
