Fatal accident closes I-70 near Glenwood Springs

A long stretch of I-70 in the mountains has been shut down by a fatal accident involving a vehicle and a semi-truck.

The crash happened at 4:36 a.m. near the Hanging Lake Tunnel in the Glenwood Canyon section of the highway, said Trooper Nate Reid, a Colorado State Patrol spokesman.

The crash happened in a construction zone, Reid said.



The driver of a Mazda, a woman, died in the accident.
