Event offers taste of courses

The Combined Club Championships will offer local golfers an affordable opportunity to play three of Steamboat Springs’ best golf courses this summer.
“This is one of the best golfing opportunities of the summer,” Haymaker Golf Course professional Hank Franks said. “It’s a great value and a chance to play the three best 18-hole golf courses in the valley.”
The Combined Club Champ–ionships are held June 24 to 26. The deadline to enter the tournament is June 21, and the cost is $150 for golfers 20 and older with a current USGA handicap.
The tournament is open to anyone involved with any of Steamboat’s four area golf courses, including season-pass holders at any local course and Routt County residents who are eligible to play at Haymaker.
It also includes members of the Catamount, Sheraton and Steamboat Golf Club courses.
The stroke-play tournament begins June 24 at the exclusive Catamount Ranch & Club. The club usually is open only to members and sponsored players.
The event will move to Sheraton Steamboat Golf Club on June 25. The course, which is set along the rolling waters of Fish Creek, is a favorite of locals and visitors.
On the final day, the field will move to the links-style Haymaker Golf Course.
The 54-hole tournament will include net and gross divisions for men and women.
“I just love the tournament atmosphere of this event,” Haymaker’s Tim Fuhrer said. “It’s a chance for local players to experience a championship-style tournament.”
The field will be limited to the first 120 players (90 men and 30 women).
The entry fee includes greens fees, use of practice ranges and prizes. Golf cart rental is optional for tournament rounds. Golfers can register at Haymaker or by calling 870-1846.
