Election season for Routt County school boards starts Wednesday

— Routt County residents who are thinking about a run for a local school board will have plenty of seats to apply for this election season.

Starting Wednesday, candidates can pick up applications and start gathering the signatures they need to get on the ballot for the 10 seats that will be up for election in the three school districts.

The administrative assistants in all three school districts are available to outline the petition process.

In Steamboat Springs, seats in Districts 1, 2 and 3 will be open. The eligible districts cover most of the school district with the exception of the downtown corridor and some neighborhoods just south and east of downtown.

Steamboat’s district boundaries can be viewed here.

The district currently is accepting applications for the open District 2 seat and has to appoint someone two months before the election.
