Q. What is your experience with CMC?
A. I am currently a board member for the CMC Foundation and have been in this position for approximately 18 months. Through my involvement with this board, I have obtained an understanding of the CMC operations, areas of service and economic and social diversity among the CMC campuses. I am a life-long resident of Garfield County, which houses two CMC campuses. I am extremely passionate and committed to providing excellent higher education to Western Colorado.
Q. What skills and experience can you offer as a member of CMC's Board of Trustees?
A. I bring years of leadership and experience that includes the following: eight years (two terms) on the Rifle RE-2 Board; six of those as president; past chairman of Independent Bankers of Colorado; currently the chair of Rifle Downtown Development Authority; current Colorado Mountain College Foundation Board member; past president of Rifle Area Chamber of Commerce; and past board member of Literacy Outreach. These past and current positions bring experience in understanding the role and responsibilities of a board member, a leadership background in public education and a proven track record of dedication and commitment to many different boards. Professionally, I have an extensive understanding of financial analysis and can provide an additional level of expertise in this area. I have the ability to apply a fair, practical and decisive approach to any issues that could arise.
Q. How do you think CMC benefits Routt County and how will you represent Routt County as a board member?
A. CMC provides an excellent benefit to the citizens of Routt County as well as all the counties that it serves. Residing miles away from any other college, it provides a great resource to those who want or need to reside in Routt County. Additionally, it provides a wonderful campus for students wanting to learn in a mountain town such as Steamboat. The campus is an integral part of Routt County as it brings vitality, jobs and endless opportunities. I will represent Routt County the same way that I will represent all of the CMC campuses through an understanding of the benefits of higher education and how it impacts our local economies and communities.
