Ed Miklus: Time for change

Ed Miklus

Who's that knocking at Steamboat's front door? Hmmm … of all things, it's opportunity. What with the resignation of Jon Roberts and the appointment of an interim city manager, that opportunity is golden for the Steamboat Springs City Council to establish a citizens' charter study committee whose task it would be to examine our current form of government and determine if a question should be placed before the voters of Steamboat Springs to change from city manager/council form of government to a mayoral/council form of government.

The charter study committee not only would determine whether we should have a plebiscite to change our form of government but also would present a revised city charter to the voters for their approval.

So, City Council, can we expect to see on the next City Page in the Steamboat Today a request for citizen volunteers to serve on the newly created charter study committee?
