Craig teen stomped on by bull expected to be fine

People attend to Craig bull rider Robert Baker after he was stomped on by a bull Saturday at the Routt County Fair.

— A 16-year-old Craig bull rider is expected to be fine after getting stomped on by a bull Saturday at the Routt County Fair.

Robert Baker was competing in the junior bull riding competition at the fair, when he was bucked from the bull and stomped on just below the facemask in the neck and jaw area. Fair coordinator Jill Delay said it is believed that he was knocked out, and he began convulsing possibly because the strike hit a pressure point.

Firefighters from West Routt Fire Protection District were staged at the event and were immediately able to help Robert. Delay said he was taken to The Memorial Hospital at Craig.

"He's scraped up a little bit, but he's OK," she said.
