October 4, 2012
Steamboat Springs — Think you can hang with U.S. Alpine Ski Team aces? If you've always wanted to cruise around the slopes of a big Colorado ski area with members of the ski team, and then have lunch with the gang afterward, this could be your opportunity.
All you have to do is purchase a season pass at Copper Mountain and then win a drawing at the ski team's Facebook page.
Snowmaking began Tuesday at the U.S. Ski Team Speed Center at Copper Mountain, and the resort announced a contest that would allow the winners to ski with members of the ski team before the ski area opens later this fall. Winners will claim VIP credentials that would provide lift access for two, a tour of the Speed Center venue from a U.S. Ski Team athletes followed by open skiing and riding plus lunch with the team.
Copper Mountain claims the only full-length downhill training in the world this early in the ski season, thanks in part to 87 dedicated snowmakers.
