August 29, 2013
Steamboat Springs — U.S. Rep. Scott Tipton will visit Steamboat Springs on Friday to meet with constituents and discuss issues including health care, immigration and the economy.
The informal Coffee with Congressman Tipton event is from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at MountainBrew, 427 Oak St.
As part of his visit to Northwest Colorado, Tipton also held a town hall meeting Thursday at The Memorial Hospital in Craig and will travel to Walden on Saturday.
"It's an opportunity to hear from people directly and bring their issues back to Washington," Tipton’s press secretary Josh Green said about the events.
In Craig, Tipton talked about the Affordable Health Care Act, calling it the "No. 1 job obstructor.
"It's impending our ability to create and keep full-time jobs," he said.

Tipton also talked about a bill he sponsored called the Planning for American Energy Act, which calls for an all-of-the-above energy plan that expands development of federally owned onshore resources.
"It's taking advantage of resources," he said. It "gives us a chance to harvest some of that coal."
Tipton also touched on the news that the Moffat County Commission on Tuesday decided to ask voters in November whether they support secession.
The congressman said he understood why the issue was being considered in Moffat County.
"This is a very strong message that is being sent. I hope it's being heard. It better be heard," he said.
