Community Connections: Boys & Girls Club gives thanks

Dana Duran For Steamboat Today

Giving thanks. I always enjoy the first sounds of fall and back to school from the crispness in the air to the sounds of joy and learning all around. The changing of the seasons reminds us to be thankful for the many blessings in our lives including the wonderful community that we live in and the families and kids that make up that community.

The Boys & Girls Club is grateful for the amazing kids we get to serve every day and the individuals, families and businesses that help support us in this endeavor. While we are grateful for the youth we serve, our young people are equally appreciative.

Lillian, a 9-year-old member of the club, says, “I am thankful for the club because it has all my friends and fun activities every day.” Olivia, age 10, notes, “I am thankful for the club because the staff lets me help them, and that makes me feel good.” It truly makes me feel good to know the kids in our community are thankful, and the club is making a difference.

Come check out the great things happening inside the club. If you have not visited, I hope you will call and schedule a tour to come take a look inside where donations are being invested; where families are supported; and where children’s lives are being enriched.

Please call me to arrange a visit or ask any questions 970-871-3160.

“At the end of the day, it’s not about what you have or what you’ve accomplished … it’s about who you’ve lifted up, who you’ve made better. It’s about what you’ve given back,” said Denzel Washington. The Boys & Girls Club along with the other community nonprofits are great examples of how giving lifts us up and makes our community and the world a better place to live.

Remember, gratitude and giving changes everything.
