College update: Catching up with Routt County collegiate athletes

Alex Wood, football

2009 graduate of Steamboat Springs High School, redshirt senior at the University of Colorado

A former walk-on, Wood earned a scholarship for the second straight year with the Colorado Buffaloes. Wood has yet to record any statistics in his senior year, but the Buffaloes are 2-0 for the first time since 2008.

Jamey Swiggart, tennis

2012 graduate of Steamboat Springs High School, sophomore at Idaho State

Swiggart is entering his sophomore season on the Idaho State Bengals tennis team. During the 2013 spring season, he was the Bengals' top individual performer, sporting a 15-2 record. Idaho State's 2013 fall schedule starts this weekend.

Cody Miles, football

2010 graduate of Soroco High School, redshirt junior at Fort Lewis College

A linebacker and Soroco High School graduate, Miles began his junior season with the Fort Lewis College Skyhawks. Miles registered 48 tackles and one sack last season and recorded a tackle in the Skyhawks' season opener at Southern Utah.

Treyben Letlow, football

2011 graduate of Hayden High School, redshirt sophomore at CSU-Pueblo

The CSU-Pueblo sophomore tight end and 2010 Hayden High School graduate has seen action in both of the Thunderwolves' wins this season.

Colleen King, volleyball

2010 graduate of Steamboat Springs High School, senior at University of Denver

King is in the middle of her senior season on the University of Denver volleyball team and is coming off a 2012 All-Conference campaign. This season, King leads the Pioneers in kills with 111 and has tacked on 28 blocks and 18 digs through nine matches. The Pioneers are 5-4.

Kailee Duryea, volleyball

2012 graduate of Steamboat Springs High School, sophomore at Eastern Wyoming

Duryea has begun her sophomore season with the Eastern Wyoming College volleyball team. The 2013 schedule and statistics are not updated on the Lancers' website.

Courtney Garth, soccer

2010 graduate of Steamboat Springs High School, senior at Lake Forest (Ill.) College

A senior defender, Garth and the Foresters have started their 2013 season 5-2. Garth has appeared in five games and has recorded two shots on goal.

Shelby Struble, soccer

2011 graduate of Steamboat Springs High School, junior at Milwaukee School of Engineering

As a defender/midfielder last year, Struble started all 21 games for the MSOE Raiders. Struble has started all five of the Raiders' games so far in her junior season.

Maggie Stanford, volleyball

2012 graduate of Steamboat Springs High School, sophomore at Sewanee: The University of the South

As a freshman for the Tigers, Stanford appeared in all but one match. So far in 2013, Stanford has recorded 34 sets, 33 kills and 13 blocks as a sophomore for Sewanee. The Tigers are 9-2.

Carly Fox, crew

2011 graduate of Steamboat Springs High School, junior at the University of Puget Sound

In her sophomore year as a member of the Loggers' crew team, Puget Sound took eighth at the NCAA Championships in June.

Christi Valicenti, tennis

2012 graduate of Steamboat Springs High School, sophomore at Lake Forest University

Valicenti is 2-1 in singles play and undefeated in doubles play in 2013. Last season, Valicenti was No. 1 on the team in doubles with a 17-5 record and No. 2 on the team in singles at 18-4.

Lindsay Miles, volleyball

2012 graduate of Soroco High School, sophomore at Colorado Northwestern Community College

Miles is in her second season on the Spartans volleyball team. A team record and statistics aren't available on the school's athletic website.
