Mike Vandahl, basketball
Steamboat Springs — 2008 graduate of Steamboat Springs High School, senior at Western State Colorado University
Vandahl, playing with a hurt shooting wrist, used his defensive ability to help get Western State back on track. On Friday, Vandahl switched to Chadron State's Zac Bargen after Bargen had scored 16 early points. Vandahl held the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's leading scorer to four points the rest of the game in an 81-66 win. He also added seven points and three assists. On Saturday, Vandahl held Black Hills State University leading scorer Joey Mitchell to 3 of 19 shooting in a 76-60 win. He also added nine points and five rebounds. The two wins ended a seven-game losing streak.
Shane McLean, Alpine skiing
2010 graduate of The Lowell Whiteman School, sophomore at University of Colorado
McLean finished third in the giant slalom at the Utah Invitational on Feb. 6 and was 11th in the slalom. On Saturday at the second slalom of the Utah Invitational, she was 13th. The following day at the New Mexico Invitational, she was 12th in a slalom event.
Mary Rose, cross-country skiing
2008 graduate of Steamboat Springs High School, senior at University of Colorado
At the Utah Invitational, Rose was 24th in a 5-kilometer race. At the New Mexico Invitational, Rose was 20th in the women's 15-kilometer race.
Luci Franklin, swimming
2012 graduate of The Lowell Whiteman School, freshman at Saint Michael's College
Franklin wrapped up the season during the weekend at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association Championships. Franklin swam one event and helped the 200 freestyle relay team to a fourth-place finish.
Genevieve Bradley, diving
2010 graduate of Steamboat Springs High School, junior at University of Hawaii at Manoa
In her last meet, a dual with Kansas, Bradley was third in the 1-meter springboard competition with a score of 260.20. In the 10-meter platform event, she was fourth with a score of 192.6.
Bradley has qualified for the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation diving Championships from Feb. 21 to 23. She also has qualified for the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships from March 14 to 16.
