Class notes: Hvambsal named Optimist Club’s Teen of the Month

— Steamboat Springs High School senior Ty Hvambsal is the Optimist Club of Steamboat Springs’ Teen of the Month for November.

For the past two years, Hvambsal has been on the varsity golf team and a member of the Leadership Team and Young Life at the high school.

Hvambsal has volunteered for two years at the Yampa Valley Science School held each fall for Routt County sixth-graders at Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts School and Camp. And since it opened in June, he’s worked for the Boys & Girls Club of Steamboat Springs. Hvambsal plans to study education in college.



He is the son of Blaine and Nancy Hvambsal.

CHS announces honor roll for the 1st quarter

Christian Heritage School this week announced its first-quarter honor roll.



Students who made the honor roll for earning A’s and B’s include sixth-grader Hannah Kline, seventh-grader Paige Eivins and eighth-graders David Kissane and Stephanie Moos.

Students who made the high honor roll for earning all A’s include seventh-graders Lauren Anderson and Andrea Houston, and eighth-grader Mackenzie Holmberg.

High school students who made the honor roll for earning grade-point averages between 3.0 and 3.49 include ninth-graders Stephen Hathaway, Shealie Jenkins, Abby Kissane and Cameron Larsen; and 10th-grader Victoria Belz.

High school students who made the high honor roll for earning GPAs above 3.5 include ninth-graders Nora Corser, Jay Lanning and Jane Robey; 10th-graders Emily Heiner, Melodie Houston, Matthew Jones and Aimee Lotz; 11th-graders Leah Berdine and Kirsten Williams; and 12th-grader Hannah Zwak.
