Steamboat Springs — Steamboat students compete at Math Day
Four Steamboat Springs High School students are participating in the 30th annual Colorado State University Math Day on Nov. 2. This year’s team is senior Austin Anderson, junior Sam Chovan and sophomore Charlie Stoddard. Junior Austin Pivarnik will compete individually.
Anderson, Chovan and Stoddard will compete as a team and in the individual PROBE, or Problems Requiring Original and Brilliant Efforts, written examination.
The math competition is held on the CSU campus in Fort Collins.
Students from across Colorado and surrounding areas will compete in a tournament featuring head-to-head team competition. CSU’s Math Day is held to promote interest and award excellence in high school math; to strengthen ties and encourage communication between high school math programs and the CSU department; and to recruit excellent math students to CSU.
