Class notes: 2 Rocky Mountain Youth Corps members awarded

— Rocky Mountain Youth Corps recently was named a Partner of the Year through the Governor's Summer Job Hunt Program. In addition, two RMYC members also were recognized. They are Andrew Fonseca, of Milner, and Jesse McAndrew, of Hayden.

The Summer Job Hunt program was created in 1980 to help youths find summer work.

Brendan Hamlet earns CU Denver architecture degree

Brendan Hamlet, a 1995 graduate of The Lowell Whiteman School, earned his master's degree in architecture last month from the University of Colorado at Denver. He earned his bachelor's degree in 1999 from the University of Cornell.

Pensacks make dean's list at New Yorks' Columbia

Max J. Pensack, a 2007 Steamboat Springs High School graduate, and Miriam R. Pensack, a 2009 graduate of SSHS, were named to the dean's list during the 2009-10 fall and spring semesters at Columbia College in New York, N.Y.

Routt County districts head back to school

The 2010-11 school year started this week for a number of schools in Routt County. Students returned to the classroom Tuesday in the South Routt School District and Wednesday in the Steamboat Springs School District and at Christian Heritage School. School begins Monday at The Lowell Whiteman School and Yampa Valley School, Tuesday at Lowell Whiteman Primary School and North Routt Community Charter School and Sept. 7 in the Hayden School District.
