Steamboat Springs — The city of Steamboat Springs will host a public meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Steamboat Springs Community Center to discuss the possibility of building a new police station on a small corner of Rita Valentine Park at Hilltop Parkway and Mill Run Court.
The station highlights the city’s six-year capital improvement program, and city officials hope to start construction on it as soon as next year.
Public Safety Director Joel Rae said earlier this month that the community would need to endorse the move, likely in a public vote, to allow about 3 acres of open space in the 35 acre park to be rezoned to accommodate the police station.
