CHSCA to offer tests for athletes

Melinda Mawdsley

The Colorado High School Coaches Association is trying catch up to several states when it comes to helping prep football players on the recruiting trail.

Later this month, the CHSCA will be conducting an NATS test at the Denver Broncos’ Dove Valley Complex.

NATS is a national standardized baseline athletic test, comparable to what the Scholastic Aptitude Test, or SAT, for academics.

In addition to the national standardized athletic test, the NATS Web site (www.nats.us.) provides information pertaining to NCAA academic requirements, college recruiting, financial aid, athletic performance analysis and athletic test preparation.

NATS tests are scheduled to take place May 28, but those interested must register no later than May 20.

Registration forms are available at the NATS Web site. When registered, players receive all NATS online services for the rest of their high school careers.

This year, the CHSCA is aiming to register 360 players for its NATS test. Football players from all grades are eligible. Indiana, Illinois, Mary–land, Nevada and New Jersey are conducting NATS tests this year, as well.
