Cheryl Flagg: Be part of a miracle Thursday

Cheryl Flagg

I became a stem cell marrow donor in April 2003. My sister, Elaine, was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome, a rare, life-threatening, pre-leukemia blood disorder. A bone marrow transplant from my stem cell donation replaced her own diseased bone marrow. Because of this miraculous process, my sister is able to live a full life and see her daughter graduate from college, and even attend her daughter's wedding.

Routt County residents between ages 18 and 44 have the opportunity to join the National Marrow Donor Program when Bonfils Blood Center visits Yampa Valley Medical Center from 12:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday. By registering, you, too, can save a life — and be part of a miracle.
