Cause of death still not determined for Noonan

Steamboat Springs — There is still no cause of death for John Noonan, the man who died after falling into Soda Creek at 12th Street and Lincoln Avenue and was pulled from the Yampa River near Sleepy Bear Mobile Home Park on Wednesday.
"We believe it's probably going to come back as a drowning but wanted to do more tests," Routt County Coroner Rob Ryg said.
Ryg said tissue testing of different organs would help determine whether there were other contributing factors in Noonan's death. He said the results could be completed by Wednesday.
Noonan, 58, owned Storm King Surveying and Mapping in Steamboat Springs.
Steamboat Springs Police Department officers, Routt County Sheriff's Office deputies, Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue emergency responders and Routt County Search and Rescue personnel were called to a report that a man fell into the creek while trying to get on his mountain bike at 4:03 p.m. Wednesday. Rescuers pulled Noonan from the river about 4:50 p.m. and took him to Yampa Valley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 5:10 p.m.
