Business briefs: SmartWool declares October as National Sock Month

Steamboat Springs — October now is Socktober, according to SmartWool.
The outdoor and snowsports sock maker has declared October as National Sock Month and will launch a monthlong engagement campaign known as Socktober, a news release states.
"In declaring October National Sock Month and introducing Socktober, we challenged the team to leverage all channels in a coordinated effort to drive excitement at retail," Mark Satkiewicz, SmartWool's president, said in the release. "The result is that our rep force is totally aligned, our media dollars are targeted around hundreds of doors, and our social audience is engaged."
The Socktober promotion kicks off Oct. 1 with design cues from 1980s hair metal, according to the release.
The release states that SmartWool will reward standout, rock-themed tweets, Instagram photos and Facebook posts with socks, Socktober guitar picks and other promotional items.

Prudential Steamboat Realty teams recognized as top in state

Cindy MacGray, of Prudential Steamboat Realty, has earned the Certified International Property Specialist designation, according to a news release.
The designation represents "advanced expertise, a global perspective and distinct understanding of a global buyer," the release states.
As part of the designation, the release states, MacGray now can work with international buyers, U.S. residents investing overseas and "recent immigrants who might be unfamiliar with real estate transaction practices in the United States."
MacGray completed rigorous coursework on international real estate practices and demonstrated proficiency in international business before the award was conferred by the National Association of Realtors.
Alicia Ellson receives Redken Certified Design Stylist recognition
Alicia Ellson, of Brio Salon, recently became a Redken Certified Design Stylist, according to a news release.
The release states that Redken Certified Design Stylists "provide the absolute latest trends in cutting, updos, blowouts and styling for special occasions."
"Now that Alicia has received official Redken Design Certification, those in Steamboat have access to a superior stylist with the latest information on hair products, trends and techniques," Christine Schuster, senior vice president of education for Redken, said in the release.
