Arts council seeks artists to paint sidewalks

The Steamboat Springs Arts Council is looking for artists to adorn the sidewalks with their painting for the upcoming Beaux Arts Festival, to be held Aug. 6. Call 879-9038.

Volunteers needed to help during balloon rodeo



Volunteers are needed to help with the 25th annual Hot Air Balloon Rodeo, which will be from today to Sunday. Volunteers will receive an official event T-shirt. Call 879-0882, ext. 208.

Local gardening book now available across town



A new book about gardening in the Yampa Valley is now available. “59 Days, 39°F at 6,770 Feet …” was written by local master gardeners and can be purchased for $13.99 at the Routt County Cooperative Extension Office, Off the Beaten Path Bookstore, Epilogue Book Co., Safeway, Sweet Pea Produce, Windemere Landscape and Garden Center, Ace at the Curve, Elk River Farm & Feed, Steamboat Floral, Alpine Floral and Blue Sky Pottery. All proceeds from the sale of the book benefit the Routt County Master Gardener program.

Mountain Chili Festival looking for chili cooks

The second annual Mount-ain Chili Festival, hosted by the Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp., is looking for participants to cook their favorite chili recipes. This summer’s festival is July 30 at the base of the ski area. The entry fee is $25, and prizes include airline tickets, a spa package at the Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel and a destination vacation. Chili categories are red and green. Call 871-5336.

Vendors needed for Art on the Mountain shows

Local art vendors are being sought to participate in any of the fourth annual Art on the Mountain shows this summer. The shows will be held July 30 and 31, Aug. 6 and 7, Labor Day weekend and Sept. 10. The cost is $75 for a 10-by-10-foot booth. Shows take place at the base of the ski area in Gondola Square. Veterans can receive benefits information

Routt County veterans are encouraged to stop by the Colorado Workforce Office in Sundance at Fishcreek shopping center and visit with the Routt County Veterans Affairs officer. Find out what benefits have been earned by serving in the armed forces. The hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday to Wednesday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday. Golfers and bidders to unite for charity, fun

The eighth annual Ski Town USA Golf Classic & Benefit Auction is today and Saturday at the Sheraton Steamboat Resort and Catamount Ranch & Club golf courses. The tournament and the auction benefit the Healthcare Foundation for the Yampa Valley and the Steamboat Springs Rotary Club.
