Bear in trash, suspicious moving van: The Record for Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017

12:26 a.m. Steamboat Springs Police Department officers were called to a report of a person who found a bear digging through a trashcan in the 1000 Block of Merritt Street. Officers chased the bear out of the area.

8:10 a.m. Officers were called to a report of graffiti sprayed on a side of a Howelsen ski jump. Offers were unable to locate the suspects.

11:30 a.m. Officers were called to a report of someone who said they saw red lights flashing in the sky along Colorado Highway 131. Officers were unable to find anything in the sky.

4:28 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a man who left his bag on a park bench in the 600 block of Oak Street. When he returned for the bag, it was gone. The bag could not be found and a report was taken.

4:57 p.m. Officers were called to a report of staff who discovered a few people with illegal drugs at Colorado Mountain College. A report was made.

10:18 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a vehicle speeding near Clubhouse Drive headed for Fish Creek Falls. The officers were unable to locate the vehicle.

10:27 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a man who had jumped the fence and took off running down towards the river in the 700 block of Yampa Street. Officers were unable to locate the man.

10:34 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a person who found a bear digging through a trashcan in the 3200 block of South Lincoln Ave. Officers chased the bear out of the area.

11:32 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a person who was suspicious of a moving van that was loading at an odd time during the night in the 900 block of Weiss Drive.
