¤ Open house for the Historic Routt County! office in the Maxwell Building is from 4 to 7 p.m. to kick off a summer-long silent auction featuring the watercolors of former resident Marty Alexandroff. The paintings will be on rotating exhibit through the summer, beginning at Alpine Bank in Steamboat Springs from June 17 to July 5. ¤ Wild Horse Gallery, in recognition of Richard Galusha’s retirement after 20 years as art teacher at Steamboat Springs High School, will feature his work through the end of June. The gallery is in the Steamboat Sheraton Resort Hotel and is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Call 879-7660.

¤ Emerald City Opera’s 2005 season signature artwork, “Encounter at Maxim,” mixed media on paper, by Rob Williams, is on display in the window of the TEI Modern Contemporary Gallery in Torian Plum Plaza. The artwork will be presented to the highest bidder at the opera’s final performance of “The Merry Widow” in August. Call 879-2240.



¤ “The Intensive Spirit: Celebrating 22 years of the Paper and Book Intensive,” a papermaking and book arts exhibit, is on display through June 19 at the Depot Art Center, 1001 13th St. Call 879-9008.

¤ TEI Modern Contemporary Gallery reopens Wednesday with new work by 13 local artists in the Torian Plum Plaza. Call 879-2240.

¤ “In Vino Veritas: artwork by Keri L. Searls” is on display at Vino and Vidalia Market, in the Sundance at Fish Creek shopping center. Call 875-1183.

¤ “Musical Chairs,” the signature art pieces for the 2005 Strings in the Mountains season, is on display in a rotating show at Wells Fargo Bank, First National Bank of Steamboat Springs, Alpine Bank, Vectra Bank and the Bank of the West through June. This summer, the pieces will be on display at the Strings Festival Tent. Silent bids for the chairs can be made at each of the banks or by calling 879-5056, ext. 102. Bidding ends Aug. 13.
