Application deadline is Friday for city of Steamboat’s volunteer boards and commissions
March 27, 2014
Steamboat Springs — Community members have one more day to try and get a seat on some of the city’s most influential volunteer boards and commissions.
Some of the higher profile openings are on Steamboat’s Planning Commission.
Three seats are available on that commission that helps the city weigh development proposals.
The seats carry three-year terms.
The city’s Parks and Recreation Commission, which advises the city and the Steamboat Springs City Council on recreational proposals, has four seats open.
According to the city, all four incumbents whose terms were up have reapplied along with one new applicant.
Other volunteer opportunities include two seats on the Board of Adjustment, four seats on the Historic Preservation Commission, three seats on the Yampa Valley Housing Authority board, and four seats on the Ice Rink Advisory Committee.
Applications must be received Friday and can be emailed to city clerk Julie Franklin at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Franklin said if there are more applications than available seats, the City Council usually interviews and selects candidates, but it also could use a different method for the appointments.
