Alpine Bank accepting ‘Tools’
School program gathers supplies for low-income students
July 28, 2006
Steamboat Springs — During August, Alpine Banks of Colorado will help local school children by collecting school supply donations.
The second annual “Tools For Schools” drive is designed to help furnish low-income students with school supplies that they may not otherwise be able to afford.
Alpine Bank in Steamboat Springs will accept donations in a large box in the building’s lobby at 1901 Pine Grove Road.
Last year, Tools For Schools filled 20 of those boxes. Alpine Bank is hoping to continue that success this year.
Donations will be distributed to students throughout the school district.
United Way and Routt County Human Services will help give out the supplies.
Although school supplies for all grade levels are appreciated, the elementary grades are in the most need of new materials.
In addition to the basics, such as pencils and paper, backpacks are needed so that students will have something to carry their new supplies in.
There are 32 Alpine Bank offices throughout the Western Slope, and many of these establishments are also participating in the drive.
Donations will be accepted from now until Aug. 31.
