$675 stolen from Holy Name Catholic Church

— The Steamboat Springs Police Department is investigating a report of hundreds of dollars being stolen from a downtown church.

A Holy Name Catholic Church staff member called police Friday to report that $675 had been stolen from a church safe sometime between Aug. 14 and 16.

Police said that the $675 was part of a collection of donated money that was brought to Steamboat from St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Oak Creek last week and that it was taken from the church safe.

Officer Bill Stucker said Sunday that the police department has no leads and that there were reportedly no signs of forced entry at the church.

Church staff members could not be reached for comment Sunday afternoon.
