4 Steamboat girls named to MSGHL All-League team

Steamboat Springs — Four Steamboat Springs girls youth hockey players were selected to the MSGHL All-League team during their conference championship tournament during the weekend at Denver's Edge Ice Arena.
Representing on the U12 MSGHL All-League squad were Steamboat's Jensen Kavanaugh and Peyton Curley. At the U14 level, Steamboat's Brooke Buchanan and Maura Glynn made All-League.
But Glynn accomplished something only two players of the league's three different age divisions can brag about. After her season-long performance on the ice and through the league championship tournament, Glynn was an All-League unanimous selection.
MSGHL board member and Steamboat U14 coach Scott Glynn — whose daughter is Maura — said coaches representing each team in each division nominate players, and once nominations are submitted, ballots are sent out.
Six players make each team — three forwards, two defensive players and one goalie.
The U14 squad entered its league championship tournament as the No. 1 seed but stumbled a bit down the stretch to an 0-3-1 record in Denver, Glynn said.
"What's really cool for all three of these age groups is that by the time of when we played our last game, we knew we were kind of out," Glynn said. "But credit to coaches and the girls, no one folded. They were ultra competitive."
