Business briefs: RE/MAX announces two hotel sales

— Steamboat Springs’ relatively new RE/MAX Partners Commercial Division last week announced the sale of two hotels, both closing earlier this summer.

The LaQuinta Inn, located at 3155 Ingles Lane, was sold by Lasco LLC to RM Hospitality LLC on June 17 for $3.25 million. The 13,664-square-foot hotel sits on 1.02 acres.

The Quality Inn, located at 1055 Walton Creek Road, was sold by Infinity Steamboat Hotel LLC to Steamboat Hospitality LLC for $4.9 million July 1. The 24,322-square-foot hotel sits on 2.44 acres. The hotel had recently undergone a $350,000 front desk and lobby renovation.

Both hotels were purchased by buyers from the Denver area, according to Brett Morganti, managing broker and director of RE/MAX Partners Commercial Division, which he founded in October 2015.

Morganti said interest for the La Quinta Inn came from New York, Montana, California, Texas and other areas.

Zirkel trading to close at end of summer

Steve and Denise Hitchcock have announced Zirkel Trading will close its doors at the end of the summer.

The exact closing date has not been determined and will depend on when the owners sell the inventory they have on hand. In any case, it will be before the expiration date of the lease, Sept. 30.

The business opened its doors in fall 2008, when Howelsen Place was completed.

Despite a challenging first couple of years during the recession, the Hitchcocks said the business grew into one of downtown’s favorite shopping stops, serving both full-and part-time locals, as well as visitors to the area.

“The adventure is coming to an end. It has been wonderful to meet and know so many of the people in our community,” Steve Hitchcock said in a news release. “If you have never worked in a main street business, you cannot imagine how much of the community you encounter and get to know in some small way during the course of business from year to year. We would like to thank each of our customers, and we want them to know that this aspect has really been the highlight of the experience for us.”
