Ron Szerlong: Facing Ebola issues

This letter is regarding our current policy for the Ebola issues that we are facing as a nation. No, I am not saying it’s scary at this time, but should we be more conservative in our procedures?

All I am saying is that our policy and course of action for returning doctors, nurses, etc. directly back to the U.S. may be need to be revised.

I believe that our government and the Center for Disease Control should require neutral quarantine rest and observation areas, which are near the place of origin or similar to the remote Guantanamo Base, for example. These transition areas may require heath workers to undergo observation for period of 21 days or more before they come back to the U.S.

This policy may also safely facilitate the returning soldiers that are sent to those infected areas.
