— A close friend of missing Steamboat Springs woman Page Stockdale has confirmed that she was found dead Saturday morning in Routt County.

John Lamb said Stockdale was found with Mark Schiebel, a Steamboat man who police suspected was possibly with Stockdale. Lamb said they were found in the Sarvis Creek area south of Steamboat.

Steamboat Springs Police Department Chief Joel Rae said they would be releasing information about the case at 5 p.m.

“She died as a Christian, and all of her friends take a lot of comfort that she is home with her heavenly father,” Lamb said. “There is a whole community that is grieving right now.”

The Sarvis Creek area was closed Saturday while police investigated. From the hill above, Schiebel’s truck could be seen backed into a parking space next to sign with information about the area.

Stockdale was reported missing Tuesday night after not showing up for a dinner date. On Wednesday, she did not show up for a physical therapy appointment, and on Thursday, she neither boarded a plane nor cancelled her ticket for a trip to Vermont.

In recent months, Stockdale had been seen driving a black Toyota Tacoma pickup with a topper and grill guard. The truck belonged to Schiebel, 59, who has lived in Steamboat for about 15 years.
