Steamboat Springs Ciao Gelato will be moving from its Yampa Street location to a spot around the corner on Seventh Street but still in the Howelsen Place building.
Owner Lynne Romeo said the restaurant will close Monday for about a week before having a soft opening in its new space around April 7.
Romeo said she’s excited about the new space and glad that the business is staying in the same neighborhood. There’s a “Yampa feel,” she said, and it’s a great neighborhood atmosphere with the restaurants sharing with one another.
The location is more visible from Lincoln Avenue, which she said should help with getting additional foot traffic during the winter. Windows in the corner unit look out at Seventh Street and offer a view of Lincoln Avenue.
Romeo also said the Mainstreet Farmers Market relocating to the same stretch of Seventh Street for the summer should provide additional exposure.
The new space will have similar colors and decor as the current location and will feature the gelato immediately inside the door.
Ciao Gelato might close for spring break near the end of April, Romeo said, but there are plans to have an official grand opening in early May.
