High man was roughhousing with Rottweilers when he was bitten

— What initially was reported as a man attacked by three Rottweilers turned out to be not so serious.

Routt County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Oak Creek Fire Protection District firefighters were called at about 3 p.m. Wednesday to help the 40-year-old man who was bleeding in the 21100 block of Miles Ranch Lane.

Undersheriff Ray Birch said the man was admittedly high when he went to his neighbor’s house and was roughhousing with the dogs when one of them bit him.

“The guy bit was very high on ‘medical marijuana’ and was having difficulty remembering details,” Birch said in an email.

Oak Creek firefighter took the man to Yampa Valley Medical Center.

Birch said the man was bitten on his forearm and had a small scratch on his buttocks.

Birch said animal control officer Cindy DelValle followed up on the incident Thursday and does not expect to file any charges against the dogs’ owner.

“The dogs were on their property and the act was more or less provoked by the guy who was bitten,” Birch said.

And this is news -- why? Are the forums that dead? Is the Pilot fulfilling its agenda-setting function? Is "medical" marijuana better than recreational? Was that the only substance involved? Should the packaging material be labeled, "Do not play with Rottweilers when using this product"? Is the intent of this article to show how stupid potheads are? Was there some empty space in the paper you had to fill? Not enough accidents or controversy lately?

This article raises more questions than it answers, one regarding editorial judgment...

And try as you might, you can't un-ring the bell. Hallelujah and Priase The Lord!!

Where are the funny stories about drunks? Outside The Record, that is. They do stuff at least as stupid as this guy, and there are twenty of them for every one of these.

One kid eats the wrong candy, has a bad experience, and it's a Federal Case in here. I've known at least three people who died of acute alcohol poisoning, with nary a peep, except for service notices.

Hell yes I think the Pilot has an agenda.

I think the guy should be charged with animal cruelty for antagonizing the dogs and potentially poisoning them. It is now common knowledge that pot is not good for dogs.

Now you're just being silly, Jerry. He didn't FEED pot to the dogs. Chocolate's far more poisonous to dogs. Grapes, raisins, macadamia nuts, onions and garlic. Sorry ... what was your point?
