— The Routt County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents that there has been an uptick in reported phone scams.

Cpl. Mark Elliott said that the recent cases involve a person who calls and claims to be some sort of investigator with a federal agency, such as the FBI or the Internal Revenue Service.

Oftentimes with such scams, the caller is trying to obtain personal information.

Elliott said that so far, no one had reported providing any personal information.
