Steamboat Springs Steamboat Springs’ Butcherknife Brewing Company delivered its first kegs to restaurants this past weekend, “culminating a journey to market spanning nearly five years,” according to a news release.
Butcherknife Blonde X is available at Carl’s Tavern and The Tap House Sports Grill in Steamboat, and the brewery’s own taproom on Elk River Road is set to open in several weeks.
"We’re thrilled to finally deliver on the promise we made to Steamboat so long ago," founder Mark Fitzgerald said in the release.
“Strong local roots and longtime friendships in town have driven everything we’ve done to date,” co-founder Nate Johansing said in the release.
Fitzgerald started Butcherknife in 2009, and Johansing joined soon after, and they’ve been serving “homebrewed pilot batches to local fans since 2011, with a substantial volume donated to local charities and private fundraisers.”
According to the release, Butcherknife plans to distribute more than 1,000 barrels in its first year of operation. The company is starting with only draft beer but intends to can popular varieties within the year.
