Steamboat Springs It was a flat game, but Steamboat Springs High School boys basketball coach Luke DeWolfe said his team’s 55-43 defeat Saturday in Glenwood Springs is nothing more.
“We’re still in pretty good shape,” he said. “We’re playing good basketball. It’s unfortunate we had a letdown game. We’re a better basketball team than how we played Saturday.”
The Sailors went 0-15 from 3-point range, tough on any team and a brutal blow to frequently sharp-shooting Steamboat. The Sailors led by eight at half but went into a deep draught in the second half, scoring only two points in the third quarter and 11 in the fourth.
Steamboat, 9-4, was led by Matthew Lanning, who had 10 points.
The team returns to action Thursday night at Summit.
“This is a great group of guys who believe in each other and believe in what we’re doing,” DeWolfe said. “They understand it’s not about what ahppens. It’s about how you react to it.”
