It wasn’t pretty, but it was close, and for a reeling Steamboat Springs High School girls basketball team, that will have to do. The Sailors fell against Glenwood Springs on Saturday, 28-20, in a low-scoring, defensive slugfest.
“It was a really good defensive game on both ends,” Steamboat coach Mack Spitellie said.
Jenna Miller led the Sailors with six points while Maddie Robertson and Mikaela Jegtvig each score five.
“We’re still not a full team yet,” Spitellie said. “We have two seniors who didn’t play, who are still hurt. We have better chemistry when they’re on the court, but I’m not complaining. The girls played extremely hard for the whole game to keep it close, so I have no complaints. We just didn’t get the shots.”
