Good wasn’t good enough, at least for the podium on Saturday night for Arielle Gold in the X Games women’s superpipe competition in Aspen.
Of course, it’s tough to complain about a score of 91.0 and finishing fourth in one of the most competitive events of the year.
Kelly Clark won the event for the fourth consecutive time, scoring a 95.0 on her first of three runs. Chloe Kim was second with a best run of 94.33 and Kaitlyn Farrington third at 94.0.
Gold was consistently good on Saturday, scoring 76.66 on her first run then 91.0 on both of her next two, high flying, spin-happy runs that the judges ate up.
It was her second time competing in the event after placing third there last year.
Now it’s on to the Olympics for Gold, who qualified third for the U.S. Olympic Team.
